Prof. Yang Yi, President of Asian Fisheries Society, Professor of Shanghai Ocean University, and Board Member of Tongwei Co., Ltd, passed away due to illness at 02:41 am on 31st July, 2009 at Chengdu Huaxi Hospital at the age of 46.
Prof. Yang Yi received his B. Sc. in Genetics degree from Sichuan University, China in 1985 and his M. Sc. and D. Tech. Sc. degrees in Aquaculture from the Asian Institute of Technology (AIT), Thailand in 1992 and 1997, respectively. Prof. Yang Yi had given enthusiastic and generous contributions at various successive working positions: Teaching Assistant and Lecturer at Southwest Agricultural University; Research Associate, Associate Professor and Field of Study Coordinator at Asian Institute of Technology; Professor and Doctor Supervisor at Shanghai Ocean University; Vice Dean of Technical Centre of Tongwei Co., Ltd; Director of Sichuan Aqua-cultural Engineering and Technology Research Center; Member of World Aquaculture Society; Member of China Society of Fisheries; Councilor and President of Asian Fisheries Society.
The mourning hall for Prof. Yang Yi is located at the second floor of community center at Golden Coast, 300 Xinxiwang Avenue, Huayang, Chengdu, China. The funeral service and public memorial ceremony for Prof. Yang Yi will be held at 8 am on 2nd August 2009 at Songhe Hall of Chengdou Dongjiao Funeral Parlor.
